Chiropractic care, as evidenced by many studies, is an effective method of treatment for conditions of a digestive nature. As shown by one study, infants with infrequent bowel syndrome under chiropractic care demonstrated almost instant relief of their symptoms after a few sessions.

According to an extensive study, there’s a real connection between Crohn’s disease and misalignments of the spine. Crohn’s disease results in inflammation along the small intestine, affecting any part of the digestive tract. In addition to pain, this inflammation results in frequent emptying of the intestines and diarrhea.

A dominant theory around Crohn’s disease places it as an immunological response to a virus or bacterium. Corticosteroids are traditionally recommended for the treatment of inflammation of Crohn’s disease. Side-effects of corticosteroids are of concern, however, for they can cause greater vulnerability to infection. Drugs that restrict the immune system may also be employed. Researchers of the study sought to look for treatment options that boosted the immune system (as opposed to suppressing it) in a way that did not rely on the use of drugs.

Another study revealed the link between spinal misalignments and a wide range of conditions including ulcerative colitis, asthma, Crohn’s disease, and irritable bowel disorder. The evidence suggests that a patient can experience significant improvement of Crohn’s disease symptoms after a spinal readjustment. Findings demonstrate that chiropractic care also offers another benefit. Chiropractic patients don’t only receive relief of their digestive disorders but also experience an enhanced quality of life.

Make an appointment with your chiropractic doctor to receive a comprehensive assessment of your digestive issue
Chiropractors adjust misalignments of the spine that interfere with nerve function. These problems can be painlessly corrected. Once the misalignment is treated, the troublesome symptoms will likely go away as well.

Because it can balance the digestive processes, chiropractic care is able to help patients with digestive disorders. Nutritional counseling might also be a part of your chiropractor’s treatment scope (this is addition to spinal manipulation). Complementary methods like mineral supplements, healing herbs, and vitamins may also be recommended.

People tend to fret over inheriting heart disease if they have a family history of it. This is understandable, since about 1 million cardiac-related deaths occur every year in America. You might feel better knowing that genetic predisposition is just one of many factors that can influence your chances of having a heart condition. Various other factors can offset genetic predisposition; altogether, these approaches will affect your heart health over the long term in a more significant way. Here follows some suggestions for nurturing and safeguarding your heart’s health.

How You Can Have a Healthy Heart
Lack of exercise and imbalanced nutrition is cause for alarm; combined, it can cause a lot of damaging health issues, like coronary heart disease. Those who adopt healthy changes in their lifestyle avoid heart problems in the future. The practical tips below can greatly impact your heart.
* Take in generous portions of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and other fiber-rich foods, as they’re all helpful for your heart.
* Seafood should be included in your diet. Make sure you eat at least two servings of fish weekly.
* Take inventory of your consumption of saturated and trans fat, and keep track of your cholesterol. 30% of your daily caloric requirements can come from fat; that’s it. One of the ways to lower your intake of saturated fat is to eat less animal fat. And refrain from eating hydrogenated vegetable oils to lower trans fat from your diet.
* Reduce the amount of sodium in your diet. Lowering your consumption will benefit your heart.
* With dairy products, choose their low-fat or fat-free options.
* Try to get nutrients from the actual foods you’re consuming, instead of just taking vitamins. Lentils, for instance, which contain a lot of vitamins and minerals, are tasty and wholesome.
* Start exercising, if you don’t currently do so. It’s essential for a strong heart. As well as regulating blood pressure and cholesterol, exercise also helps prevent diabetes. Exercising for half an hour five times per week will benefit you throughout life. 30 minutes can be broken in 15 minutes at a time; for example you can swim in the morning and late afternoon. However, stay away from fad diets if you are overweight, as these diets do not provide long-term benefits. Such diets also place a burden on your body as well as your heart.
* Look into tai chi. Suitable for people of various age groups and conditions, it works on posture and balance, and it’s also helpful for the heart.
* Do not smoke. This is crucial for safe guarding the health of your heart.

Like other smart shoppers, you’ve probably asked yourself if organic food is better for your health, or if the so-called advantages are just a bunch of hype.

Let’s start by examining what the word organic means as it applies to food products. An organic farm is one that is dedicated to particular principles with regard to the environment, humans, and animals. Organic farms leave chemicals out of the equation and cultivate their food naturally. This is part of a wider concern that seeks to lessen damage to the environment and wildlife, as well as to humans who eat the food. Land roughly the size of Italy is used for organic pursuits, and the global organic market is valued at over $27 billion.

The Meaning of Organic Labels
If a food item has been grown on a farm, and if it utilizes processors and importers approved by a known certification process, then it can have an organic label. Nearly all agricultural ingredients of a processed food (95%) must be approved as organic. The remaining 5% don’t need to be organic, but the contents must be approved.

Organic food producers have to follow these guidelines to achieve organic certification: They must not use fertilizers as they contain nitrous oxide. The soil is kept fertile with manure and crop rotation that alternates the planted crops, leaving natural nutrients behind. Instead of using pesticides, farmers can weed and plant different crops side-by-side so that they keep both crops’ pests under control. They can also use particular insects to take out more harmful ones.

Colorings, preservatives, and most other additives cannot be used. Animals must be fed organically, and they also must be given open space and access to free range areas. In addition, minimum slaughter age rules exist. These and other guidelines for the humane treatment of animals must be followed.

Asthma is classified as a reversible obstructive respiratory disorder. Asthma is also known as “hyperactive airways”. When mild cases of asthma are not dealt with, it can lead to a more life-threatening form known as status asthmaticus.

Asthma is characterized by spastic contraction of the smooth muscle in the bronchioles, which causes extremely difficult breathing. Asthma is a hypersensitive reaction to foreign substances in the air in the bronchioles, states Dr Brandon Perkins DC. About 70% of asthma cases in those younger than 30 years old are from allergic hypersensitivity. For older asthmatic patients, non-allergic hypersensitivity reactions to things such as smog cause asthma. With asthma, the person usually can inspire quite adequately but has great difficulty expiring.

Those who are properly treated for asthmatic conditions can usually live a symptom-free, active life. It is important to follow your FL asthma treatment every day, even on the days when you feel fine. It is of utmost importance to stay away from things that trigger asthmatic symptoms like cold air, smog, and smoke. Asthma can also be induced by virus and allergies; it is a good idea to avoid them. Your asthma conditions can be kept under control if you seek regular treatment.

Chiropractic care has been successful in managing asthma symptoms, so visit your Fort Myers chiropractor for more information.

When a normal baby has crying spells for over three hours at a time, at least three days a week in a 3-week span, the infant most likely has FL infantile colic. Excessive gas, abnormal peristalsis, and food allergies or intolerances have been suggested causes of infantile colic, but the exact cause has not been determined.

In a normal, growing infant, infantile colic can begin between the first and second week of life. After it reaches a peak at around week six, infantile colic ceases during the second to third month. As a matter of fact, 20-30% of infants are affected by infantile colic in Fort Myers. The infant usually starts to cry at the end of the day and usually at around the age when the parents start to really feel the sleep deprivation. Often, the parents of colic babies become very depressed and highly frustrated.

Your chiropractor, Dr Brandon Perkins DC, will perform a thorough history and examination on your infant to determine the extent and severity of the infantile colic. The chiropractor will then design a specific treatment plan for your child.

Documents show that people feeling intense back pain for an extended period can also be feeling depressed. But a study from the University of Alberta published in the journal Pain in 2004, by Dr. Linda Carroll, shows the reverse can be true as well. Dr Brandon Perkins DC agrees with this conclusion. Those with depression may have an increase the risk of neck and low-back pain. From her studies, Dr. Carroll and her colleagues discovered that those suffering from depression are actually four times more likely to develop neck and back pains than those who are generally well.

A diminished formation or serotonin, or both, has been linked to the onset of depression, which affects at least 8 million in the United States, along with those in FL.

People with depression usually experience the following signs of depression: grief, unhappiness, despair, and misery. Depression can also cause a lower appetite and sex drive, as well as severe insomnia. Often associated with all these is a state of psychomotor agitation despite the depression.

Depression patients in Fort Myers are can also be bipolar or manic-depressive; they have mental depression and the condition alternates between mania and depression.

It is routine for your chiropractor to perform orthopaedic and neurological tests, and a history consultation. The doctor of chiropractic at Perkins Chiropractic Center will then design a custom manage your plan of treatment that is tailored to your condition.

In chiropractic care, we see and treat a lot of people for knee pain. Knee pain does not, necessarily, need to be treated by orthopaedic care; a visit to a chiropractor can yield similar, if not more effective, results. A chiropractor, when treating a patient for knee pain, will conduct an evaluation; testing for any spinal or pelvic involvement, in addition to knee dysfunction.

The knee which is virtually unprotected from outside forces is vulnerable to all of the following which can result in knee pain:
1.Impact injuries
2.Blows to the knee from the outside
3. Injuries related to dashboard
4. Direct afflictions from falls

Injuries to the soft tissue, producing knee pain, are indicative of either overuse or misuse. Commonly seen in a chiropractor’s office are:
1.Athlete with anterior knee pain
2.Elderly patient with a complaint of knee pain and stiffness
3.Young athlete complaining of tenderness over the tibial tuberosity
4. Patient complaining of knee ‘giving way’ or instability.

Knee pain treatment should ideally recommend a traditional approach first. A combination of non-invasive therapeutic measures will often relieve knee pain. These include: chiropractic adjustments, applying heat or cold, exercises to strengthen muscles that support the knee and refraining from activities that may worsen knee pain.

Your Chiropractor will perform a thorough history and examination including orthopaedic, neurological testing and diagnostic radiography to determine the true cause of your knee pain. Then they will develop a specific plan of management tailored to your case.

Bunions in Fort Myers, scientifically referred to as Hallus Valgus, occur when the 1st metatarsal phalangeal joint becomes deformed. This deviation causes painful feelings in the area around the toe. The patient with a bunion is often a middle-aged woman and there is a strong hereditary component.

When the first toe experiences a lateral deviation of the proximal phalanx, a bunion is formed. According to Dr Brandon Perkins DC, there are certain things that can accelerate the development of bunions such as; forefoot varus, Morton’s deformity, inflammatory arthritis, and the frequent wearing of high heels. A bunion is formed when bursitis, which is caused by the deviation of the metatarsal phalangeal joint, puts pressure on the joint.

Your chiropractor at Perkins Chiropractic Center will perform a thorough history and examination including orthopaedic, neurological testing, and diagnostic radiography to determine the severity of your bunion. It will be up to your doctor to deliver a custom-designed recovery protocol for you.

An allergy is an abnormal response of the body to a particular substance by the immune system. Allergens are the antigens that are causing the allergic reaction. In Fort Myers, allergies appear through a variety of symptoms. The more common symptoms of allergies are seen affecting the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and skin areas.

Some people have an allergy tendency. Their allergies are called atopic allergies because they are caused by a non-ordinary response of the immune system. Dr Brandon Perkins DC states that the characteristics of allergy tendency is genetic and usually passed down from parent to child; there is also a large amount of the IgE antibody present in the body. An allergen-IgE response takes place when the body detects the presence of an allergen.

Upon visiting a chiropractor at Perkins Chiropractic Center, you will receive orthopedic and neurological testing, as well as a discussion on your health history. Then your chiropractor will develop a specific plan of management tailored to your case.

FL leg pain that is caused by lower leg conditions can be harmless, or life threatening. In order to narrow down the list of leg disorders, those with a history of trauma or overuse of the legs can reveal the cause. In older patients, leg pain (specifically of the calf area) should always suggest the possibility of deep vein thrombosis. This potentially life threatening disorder is not always easily differentiated from a minor traumatic swelling or muscle strain.

Exercises is one of the causes of lower leg pain for athletes. Biomechanical imbalances at the foot level will often strain the calf musculature resulting in leg pain.

To determine the specific cause of the leg pain you’re experiencing, the chiropractor, Dr Brandon Perkins DC, will require you to undergo orthopaedic, neurological, and diagnostic testing, and go through your health history. Then, the doctor of chiropractic will design a treatment plan specific to your case.
