First and foremost, you can expect to be treated like you’re a part of the Perkins Chiropractic family. We value our patient relationships and look forward to treating you like an old friend — not just another Perkins Chiropractic patient. From the moment you first call, you’ll be warmly greeted over the phone by our receptionist, Laura. When you pass through the threshold of our office, you will be welcomed and acknowledged with a smile. If it’s the first time you’ve visited Dr Brandon Perkins, DC, you will be asked to complete our “New Patient Packet.” This is a fairly simple process. We will also ask for a copy of your ID and Insurance Card if we will be filing for insurance. It takes most patients 10 – 15 minutes to complete the necessary paperwork, and Laura will be able to answer your questions as they arise.
Within minutes of finishing the paperwork, you can expect to be escorted back to our Perkins Chiropractic exam room. Dr Brandon Perkins, DC will review your past and present medical history and conduct a regional examination of the area of chief complaint. Most patients will not have to change into a gown for the Perkins Chiropractic exam. This exam will include range of motion testing, orthopedic testing, as well as testing the appropriate dermatomes, myotomes, and reflexes. A postural assessment will be performed followed by Dr Brandon Perkins, DC, which will consist of an examination of the musculature in the region of chief complaint to determine whether trigger points or muscle spasms are causing or contributing to the pain level.
Based on your medical history and physical exam, Dr Brandon Perkins, DC, your trusted Perkins Chiropractic Doctor, will determine if X-rays are medically necessary.
If X-rays are needed, Dr Brandon Perkins, DC will specifically explain what aspect of the Perkins Chiropractic exam lead him to reach this conclusion. Conversely, if X-rays are unnecessary, Dr. Brandon will explain why he feels X-rays are not warranted under the circumstances.
Regardless of your physical complaints, you can rest assured that your first visit to the Perkins Chiropractic Office, as well as all subsequent visits, will be satisfactory and effectual. We look forward to meeting you, to exceeding your every expectation, and to becoming your official Perkins Chiropractic Resource: responding to your individual chiropractic needs since 1986.
Once the history, physical exam, and X-rays (if needed) are complete, Dr Brandon Perkins, DC will advise you whether he feels that Perkins Chiropractic care would be helpful for your condition. In the rare, but possible, situation when chiropractic care would not be beneficial to you, Dr. Brandon will refer you to an appropriate medical specialist.
If Perkins Chiropractic care is warranted for your condition, Dr Brandon Perkins, DC will develop an individualized treatment plan for you. The plan will consist of the type of treatment (e.g., spinal manipulation, massage, ultrasound, and etcetera) and the frequency of treatment (e.g., 1 x week, 2 x week, or 3 x week). After discussing your particular Perkins Chiropractic treatment plan, you will be given your very first treatment.
Your first treatment will likely consist of spinal manipulation and/or manual therapy or physiotherapy. In our office, we perform a wide variety of chiropractic techniques. Most patients are offered — and find comfort in — the diversified adjusting technique. Diversified is arguably the most universal chiropractic technique used today. If you have seen another chiropractor, chances are you have experienced diversified adjustments. With this technique, your lower back is adjusted while you lay on your side; your neck may be adjusted while you lay on your back.
Other common techniques that we perform in our Perkins Chiropractic office include:
Cox-Fexion/Distraction: The lower part of the adjusting table swivels, allowing Dr Brandon Perkins, DC to flex the lower spine and provide traction to the vertebrae.
Thompson Drop: A portion of the table drops (about an inch) allowing for a table assisted adjustment.
Activator: A spring-loaded device (looks like a handheld silver pogo stick) is used by Perkins chiropractic doctors, Dr. Brandon, to adjust the spine and extra spinal joints.
Once you have been adjusted and/or completed any other therapy prescribed, Dr Brandon Perkins, DC will bring you to the front desk so you can check out. The entire process, for a new patient, typically takes less than an hour. A Perkins chiropractic office visit, for an established patient, can take between five minutes to an hour. Most established patients usually spend a half hour in our Perkins chiropractic office.
