Activator Technique
This technique uses a handheld device that resembles a pogo-stick. Many patients call this device a “clicker” because of the clicking noise that the device makes when it is used. Patients do not hear a “popping” noise with this technique. The Fort Myers Activator Method has become the most widely used low-force chiropractic technique implemented by chiropractors.COX-FLEXION
With this technique, the patients lie prone and their feet are flexed toward the floor. This creates a traction effect in the lower back. Cox is often called “Flexion/Distraction.” The Cox-Flexion/Distraction technique has become the most widely used approach to treating symptomatic disc injuries involving back pain and its often-accompanying leg pain.DIVERSIFIED
This is the most common technique in chiropractic. The Diversified technique involves laying the patient on their back, side, or stomach — depending on the area being adjusted. Oftentimes a “popping” sound occurs when the chiropractor delivers a thrust. During this technique, the doctor delivers the iconic chiropractic “thrust.”THOMPSON DROP
This technique uses a table to assist with the adjustment. The patient will hear the sound of the table “dropping” but will not hear a “popping” noise when the doctor delivers the thrust. It is also known as “Segmental Drop Adjusting.” This technique was founded by Dr. J. Clay Thompson, and is currently used, far and wide, by chiropractors.ULTRASOUND
This therapy uses sound waves to produce a deep-friction massage. Ultrasound provides pain relief, reduces muscle spasms, and improves the range of motion of affected joints. This therapy is utilized on bursitis, tendonitis, chronic arthritis, and muscle spasms. Through Ultrasound, doctors use high-frequency sound waves to examine the internal structure of the body.
